Winners announced for the Cadet 150 logo competition

The winning entries of the Cadet 150 logo competition have been announced. Securing First place was 18 year old Cadet Colour Sergeant Alistair Findlater from the Yorkshire (N&W) Army Cadet Force.
Alistair’s design was described by the judging panel as “contemporary and dynamic, really getting to the core of the brief”. Alistair wins a grant of £1500 for his detachment.
In Second place was 17 year old Cadet Lance Corporal Alice Chalmers of Essex Army Cadet Force, and in Third place was Cadet Corporal Jennifer Wilson, aged 16, from 1756 Broxburn Squadron Air Training Corps.
The 150th anniversary of the formation of the Cadet movement is being celebrated in 2010. A logo competition was launched in July this year, setting the challenge to all Cadet units to come up with design ideas for a Cadet 150 logo. The design was to be simple and eye-catching, unifying across all Cadet Forces, showing the characteristics of the movement.
In total 80 entries were received, and judging took place in the Ministry of Defence in November. The judging panel was made up of communications and marketing experts from the MOD and the Cadet Forces, plus professional graphic designers.
The next stage is for a professional designer to work up the winning entry into the official Cadet150 logo, using Alistair’s design for inspiration. This will be used throughout Cadet150 on promotional and PR material, forming a unique brand for this celebratory year.
Alistair, Alice and Jennifer will all receive Cadet150 branded items as prizes in due course, plus an invitation to the VIP reception tent at the national Cadet150 summer event.
