The Sea Cadets

First Aid

First aid skills will benefit a Cadet throughout his or her life. All our training complies with health and safety legislation so qualifications gained here are recognised outside the Sea Cadets. Our young people can expect to cover such topics as:
• Objectives & principles of first aid
• Artificial ventilation
• External cardio compression
• Unconsciousness
• Bleeding
• Hypothermia
• Heart attacks
• Asthma
• Epilepsy
• Diabetes
• Shock
• Burns
• Fractures
• Dislocations
• Body fluid loss and infection of open wounds
• Poisoning
• Transportation of an injured casualty

Fire control

Everyone should know about fire prevention and fire safety - and particularly if you're out at sea. Important lifeskills such as these are hugely valuable to our Cadets. And what's more, they can get seriously wet while they learn!

Cadets learn how to use extinguishers, what extinguishers to use (water is not always the best option)and what to do if the fire cannot be controlled or put out.

Sea survival

With all this adventurous activity, it is obviously crucial that Cadets learn respect for the water and are taught what to do should any kind of incident occur. Skills learnt here can help in many area of employment, and significant numbers of Cadets go on to volunteer at their local lifeboat station later in life.
