The Sea Cadets

Adult qualifications

We greatly value our adult volunteers, without whom the organisation could not function, and support and train them, whatever their previous experience and skills.

The merger between the Marine Society and the Sea Cadets has greatly increased the range of qualifications that we can offer our adult volunteers through The College of the Sea. Here is a brief overview of the many qualifications available through us.

GCSEs and A levels

GCSEs are available in subjects ranging from Biology and Business Studies, through History and Law, to Psychology and Spanish.

We also offer a variety of A level subjects, from Economics and English Literature, through Government & Politics, to Mathematics and Sociology.

Business, professional and personal development

We have teamed up with leading providers to offer an exciting range of courses in many aspects of business skills, management, accountancy & book keeping, and personal development.

The Open University

We have worked in partnership with the OU since it started in 1969. As well as degrees, we are able to offer diplomas and personal and professional development courses. With over 450 courses, 110 qualifications and 50 subject areas, everyone is bound to find something that appeals!

The European Computer Driving Licence

This is an internationally recognised qualification that enables you to demonstrate your competence in computer skills. It is designed to help in both home and work situations, and confirms to potential employers that you have a recognised and relevant qualification in this fast-moving area.

CVQO

The Cadet Vocational Qualifications Office (CVQO) offers a range of nationally recognised qualifications to adults as well as Cadets.

Depending on what you have done within the Sea Cadet Corps, you could earn a level 3 qualification from the Institute of Leadership & Management, a Licentiateship in Youth Leadership and Training from City & Guilds, or even a Graduateship in Youth Management from City & Guilds, which is equivalent to a Bachelors' degree!

Fees

Courses are available through The Marine Society & Sea Cadets more cheaply than if you bought them direct from our partner provider.
