The Sea Cadets

HMS Gannet

HMS Gannet is based at Prestwick airport in south-west Scotland and provides 24-hour military and civilian search and rescue across a large area of Scotland, Northern England and Northern Ireland. The lead Sea Cadet Engineering School in the country is based at HMS Gannet which is dedicated to providing practical participation based marine engineering courses for cadets and adult instructors from Units all over the UK.

The Marine Engineering specialization was introduced to replace the previous mechanical and electrical training and the Centre is currently offering a programme of some 50 courses for cadets and adult instructors, including outboard engine and hull maintenance. Details of dates and age limitations can be found in the SCC National Training Programmes issued annually.
