Radio Communications

In all the Armed Forces, radio communication is essential to keep in touch. Learning to communicate by radio is excellent grounding for any cadets hoping to embark on a career in the Armed Forces. Radio communication training will, of course, enhance a cadet’s general communication skills, which are highly transferable and a valuable asset in any form of employment.

You can choose to get involved in any one, two or even all three of these exciting areas:

General

• Short, Medium and Long Range Voice Operations – on- and off-air
• Modern Data Communications
• Technical radio training including the amazing world of aerials
• Computer-to-radio linking
• Live Field Events

Tactical

• Ship-to-Ship Communications
• Flag Hoists –Nelson’s signals and their modern equivalents
• Morse by Flashing Light – secure, directional, indispensable
• Tactical Voice Nets – the way the Navy does it in action
• Manoeuvring Operations

Signalling

• Audible Morse Code
• Semaphore
• Acknowledgement of Radio Amateur qualifications
