The Sea Cadets

International Sea Cadet Association

The Sea Cadet Corps has a leading role in the International Sea Cadet Association (ISCA), forging nautical links with nations around the world. Each year, due to an active programme of exchange visits in a variety of locations around the world, Cadets are given the chance to meet new friends from members of the ISCA community. Countries such as Canada, India, Japan, South Africa, USA and many more take part in international events.
These exchange programmes date back many decades, with exchanges between Commonwealth countries going back to the early part of the 20th century. Today cadets from UK units might find themselves playing in a band on the White House lawn in Washington DC, at a reception hosted by the Crown Prince of Japan, or celebrating National Republic Day in New Delhi. Many take part in international events and state occasions.

As well as strengthening bonds between British cadets, such visits offer unique opportunities to experience the cultures and customs of different countries and to meet cadets from very different backgrounds, some of whom may become friends for life.
